Huawei PH donates smart classroom equipment to MU

Committed to helping educational institutions, students, and instructors with their continuity of learning amidst the new normal setup, Huawei Technologies Philippines, Inc. provided new smart classroom equipment to Mapúa University (MU) at the Intramuros Campus last August 30.


Huawei Technologies Philippines, Inc. Public Affairs Manager Jiahao (Chahol) Liang highlighted that the donation was in line with their aim to “bridge the digital skill gaps that we are currently facing in [the] Philippines”. He added that the company would like to foster the success of the careers of students and parents as well as the fourth industrial revolution in the country. 


The donation, which was worth 40,000 USD (at least 2,000,000 PHP), included five units of 65-inch Huawei IdeaHub Board, four units of 86-inch Huawei IdeaHub Board, a unit of Huawei Digital Blackboard, Huawei Group Discussion Software, two units of Huawei HD cameras, four units of Huawei Wi-Fi 6AP, and five units of Huawei Vision Smart TV. 


MU President and CEO Dr. Reynaldo B. Vea extended his gratitude to the telecommunications equipment company for the current donation as well as previous equipment provided by Huawei Technologies Philippines, Inc., assuring them that the University will make full use of the new technologies. “This will help our teaching and learning processes,” he stated. 


Dr. Vea also shared more about improvements in HyFlex learning as well as the global signature classroom at the Makati campus where students from around the world can connect and learn simultaneously since the donated equipment will be used for digital transformation.  


Among the administrative personnel, professors, instructors, and other staff who attended the turnover ceremony were Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Lilibeth D. Sabino, Executive Vice President and COO Raul Victor B. Tan, Vice President and Head of Campus Maintenance, Development, and Operations Margarita V. Camacho, Head of Marketing and Admissions Alodia C. Hernaez, Assistant Vice President – Controller from the Accounting Department Mira M. Delos Santos, Dean of School of Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering (EECE) Dr. Arnold C. Paglinawan, Director for Center for Teaching and Learning (Digital) Engr. Ericson D. Dimaunahan, Director for the Institutional Laboratory Management Office Josephine Ng, Center for Continuing Education and Special Competencies Business Development Manager Jemmabel M. Hernandez,  Mr. Julian Albert Nohay and Dr. Edward Jay Quinto from the Center for Teaching and Learning, and Prof. Dionis A. Padilla from the School of EECE.


Aside from Public Affairs Manager Jiahao (Chahol) Liang, the other representatives from Huawei Technologies Philippines, Inc. were Senior Public Affairs Manager Karenina Buenafe, Channel Service Manager Lim Seow Boon, Commercial Account Manager Alec Denji Santos, Talent Ecosystem Manager Andrei Manuel, and Solutions Manager Charles Patacsil.
