Known for its excellence as the Philippines’ premier engineering and technological institution, Mapúa University (MU) has long been a breeding ground for technical innovators. Often associated with hard hats, drafting tables, and circuit boards, the Mapúan community has been consistently branching out into wider horizons, defined by camera lenses, storyboards, and festival spotlights.

The recently concluded Good Governance Conference 2026, held at the Quezon City Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions Center, has shifted the landscape of local public administration toward radical transparency and data-driven civic spaces. The summit gathered more than 300 student leaders, journalists, and civil society advocates under the theme “Tayo ang Gobyerno: Sama-samang Pagkilos ng Kabataan Para sa Mabuting Pamamahala.”

Student journalists find themselves thrust into the frontlines of truth-telling in an era increasingly defined by censorship, digital harassment, and sophisticated disinformation networks. Reporting on communities and structural issues means frequently navigating a minefield of legal threats and safety risks.
