To showcase the facilities of the new Makati campus along the Pablo Ocampo Sr. Extension, Mapúa University (MU) held a tour of the eight-storey building for the incoming college freshmen and senior high school students last June 17 and 18.
Before the campus tour, the Admissions Office held an orientation including trivia games about the University including its brief history, achievements, program offerings, and scholarship offerings as well as plans for the incoming academic year. During the orientation, the partnership of MU with Arizona State University as it joined the Cintana alliance, a network of universities that aim to deliver quality and world-class education, was also discussed to the participants, mentioning the health and sciences program offerings that are expected to be available at the Makati Campus as well. Moreover, student performers Robert Grant A. Suarez and Mapúa Dance Crew took the stage and showcased their talents to the attendees.
The 5,114-square-meter property, which has become the new home of the School of Media Studies, School of Information Technology, and E.T. Yuchengco School of Business since last year, consists of various facilities to cater to the needs of the students in honing their skills in their chosen field of expertise. These include a recording studio, photography studio, videography studio, and animation rooms for media enthusiasts. A business center can also be used by business and management students. Cisco and game development laboratories are also available for information and technology and computer science students. Chemistry and biology laboratories can also be used by senior high school students. Other facilities in the building include six elevators, a two-floor basement parking area, a library, a recreation area, Mac laboratories, and computer laboratories, among others.
Karen Vivien A. Conducto and Jessica Pauline L. Faigones from the Admissions Office, one of the main organizers of the campus tour, mentioned that the main objective of the two-day event was to “highlight the facilities of the Makati Campus” to the new batch of students. With two separate tours in the morning and afternoon for incoming college freshmen and senior high school students, respectively, they added that they also wanted to encourage applicants and even non-applicants to enroll at Mapúa University through the event.
Career and Information Officer Conducto and Admissions Officer Faigones added that the new Makati campus provided more space for student-focused facilities and avenues for outcomes-based education, compared to the previous Makati campus located at the corner of Buendia Avenue (Gil Puyat) and Reposo Street where there was limited space.
Conducto cited the study rooms where students can meet and discuss the lessons they have learned while Faigones mentioned the business center where students can immerse themselves in their career choice as it had an office-type setup.
Though the construction of the new Makati campus has already been completed, the officers from the Admissions Office stated that there are still improvements to be expected, particularly the audio-visual room located on the third floor.

Classes for senior high school will start on July 25, 2022, while classes for college will begin on August 15, 2022.
