Mapúa University (MU) honored 45 faculty and staff members who have shown their continuous commitment and dedication to the institution during the Mapúa Service Awards 2022 last February 16. The University conferred 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 Years of Service Awards to the said employees.

Raul Victor B. Tan, Executive Vice President - Chief Operating Officer (EVP-COO) and Treasurer, delivered his opening remarks during the ceremony, wherein he expressed his gratitude to the recipients and highlighted the importance of service.

The EVP-COO and Treasurer stated that the employees were a crucial part of delivering quality education to the students.  “All of what the student experiences – be it learning in class, or being served well by a cashier, lab assistant, or TA [technical assistant] in school – these form part of a person we are educating,” he said.

Madaming estudyante ang inyong pinaglingkuran at tinuruan and we have a good product [education] because of you,” Tan added.

Engr. Jesusito H. Sulit from the School of Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering, who was also the lone recipient of the 40 Years in Service Award, briefly reminisced on his first years at the University, then Mapúa  Institute of Technology, and shared how his experiences contributed to teaching the students throughout his career.

At the end of the ceremony, MU President and CEO Dr. Reynaldo B. Vea conveyed his congratulatory message to the awardees, stressing the importance of human resources that helped the institution to realize its vision and fulfill its mission the past years  . “Success proceeds not only from grandiose and big screens, but also from quiet day to day toil and tending to our assigned duties. For we are an organization, for we all work together, and we’re each placed an indispensable part in order for the whole to function properly,” Dr. Vea imparted.

The annual Mapúa Service Awards aims to show appreciation and recognition for long-serving teaching and non-academic personnel.
