Mapúa University (MU) is set to offer two new programs under the newly established School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) such as the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) this upcoming Academic Year 2025 – 2026.
According to MU Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Lilibeth D. Sabino, the school will be based at an offsite location, at the second floor of Ayala Malls Manila Bay near Seda Hotel, with Dr. Lora Lee F. Reboton as the Dean. Applications for the courses are currently open. Enrollment documents must be submitted through the Intramuros campus for the time being.
In addition, Dr. Sabino also shared that BSHM students will have to do their internship at any of the 12 locations of Seda Hotels in the Philippines, while BSTM students may choose to intern in partner airlines, tourism offices, and entities.
The programs will follow CHED mandated courses while being supplemented with Mapúa’s institutional courses. The school will also house its own facilities such as a travel kiosk for BSTM students, a multi-purpose hall, a computer laboratory, kitchen laboratories, a student lounge, a clinic, and a library.
Last June 21, the STHM hosted an open campus for incoming college freshmen, showcasing its facilities and providing talks as they recruit students to become the first batch of Mapúan BSTM and BSHM graduates.
Mapúa’s commitment in providing world-class education across various fields will once again include the hospitality industry with its new program offerings. Previously, the program Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management was offered in 2006 at the Makati campus which housed facilities such as hotel suites and bars. It was last offered in 2015.
Moreover, this marks the third location of MU’s campuses that currently offer hospitality-related programs, alongside its sister schools, Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna and Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao.
The programs will take a minimum of three and a half years for completion and will provide students opportunities for careers in the hospitality industry.
